Camper Rohit Poudel: A Multidimensional Path from Nepal to National League Ambitions in UK

Born in Nepal and now based in Sutton, Surrey, just south of London (United Kingdom), Rohit Poudel represents a new generation of referees bringing global perspective, community focus, and relentless drive to the court.

Rohit began his officiating journey at just 15 years old, stepping into coaching and refereeing at school when he recognised that his future in basketball might not be as a player. His early commitment was quickly recognised — opening doors into local league games, and gradually into more advanced opportunities.

This past season, Rohit successfully completed his Basketball England Level 3 Referee course, and is now targeting National League appointments for the coming year. Most of his current officiating takes place across the London area, where he continues to build experience and exposure in increasingly competitive environments.

Off the court, Rohit’s basketball involvement is far-reaching:

  • Coach of a development U14 boys team in the CVL
  • Head of Referees in the Nepali Basketball UK Community League (NBUK)

These roles not only reflect his leadership and commitment, but also provide valuable insight into the game from multiple angles — which, as Rohit notes, has helped him grow tremendously as an official.

Now, as he prepares to join Survival Camp 2025, Rohit is focused on improvement with clear intent:
“My goal is to get better every year, with the hope of reaching the highest level possible.”

He arrives at camp ready to engage with international perspectives, challenge his comfort zone, and absorb everything the environment has to offer.

Welcome, Rohit — your journey is as inspiring as it is impactful.
