From Roosdaal, near Brussels, meet Remko and Yorben Walravens — two brothers at different stages of life, yet united by a common love for basketball officiating and a shared ambition to grow.

Remko Walravens

Remko is currently a first-year Political Science student at the University of Leuven, where his passion for the history of politics and public speaking meets a broader pursuit of lifelong learning. Alongside his academic journey, he’s preparing to officiate regional games next season in Belgium — a step he’s taking with energy and intent.

Driven by a mindset of constant improvement, Remko sees officiating not just as a role on the court, but as a personal development journey: “It allows me to meet fascinating people who challenge my thinking and broaden my worldview.” For him, officiating is about sharpening skill, deepening knowledge, and seeing how far passion can take you.

Yorben Walravens

At just 17, Yorben is entering his third season in the Provincial leagues in Belgium and already displays a maturity well beyond his years. A student of Economics and Mathematics, he lives with Remko and their parents, and recently made a major decision — ending his playing career to focus entirely on refereeing.

His journey began at age 14, inspired by a local referee whose joy and energy on the court left a lasting impression: “He challenged me to take the course — and honestly, it was the best decision of my life.” Since then, Yorben has built a habit of self-reflection through game footage, always looking to improve both as an official and as a person.

Now, as he steps into 3PO and looks ahead to the future, his goal is clear: “Get as experienced and great as possible, while still having fun.”

For both brothers, Survival Camp 2025 offers more than technical growth — it’s an opportunity to connect with officials from across Europe, be immersed in high-performance environments, and challenge themselves side-by-side.
